I. News II. Festivals and Events
Chiba aims to be a prefecture where foreign and Japanese residents can live together comfortably. In order to achieve this, 22 foreigners who are living, working, or studying in Chiba have officially been appointed as CHI-BA+KUN Partners. The appointment ceremony took place at the Chiba Prefectural Government Office on April 25th.
Making the most of a foreigner’s point of view, the CHI-BA+KUN Partner program includes a wide range of activities and cooperation with the Prefecture. This year, the program is made up of 22 members from 9 countries and regions who will participate in opinion exchange meetings and other events held by the Prefecture, and disseminate information about Chiba to foreigners.
※“CHI-BA+KUN Partner” is an abbreviation for the official program name, which is “A Partner Who Works with CHI-BA+KUN to Make Chiba Prefecture a Comfortable Place to Live.”
June 15 is “Kenmin no Hi” (Chiba Prefectural Citizens’ Day).
It was established in 1984 to celebrate the Prefecture’s population exceeding 5 million people, and is a day for residents of Chiba Prefecture to learn about Chiba, love Chiba, and help make Chiba Prefecture into a place for the next generation to be proud of.
June 15 commemorates June 15, 1873, when the Kisarazu and Imba Prefectures merged to form the present-day Chiba Prefecture.
To commemorate “Kenmin no Hi” on June 15, the Chiba Wakuwaku Festa 2022 will be held on Sunday, June 12 to let everyone discover the charms of Chiba Prefecture while having fun!
This year, under the theme of “Oi-sea! (Delicious!) Tano-sea! (Fun!) Atara-sea! (New!) Let’s learn about Chiba’s charms from the sea,” a series of participatory and hands-on events will be held. There will be a gourmet corner using ingredients form the sea, a culture corner about the sea in Chiba where visitors can enjoy workshops such as sticker art, and many other sea-themed contents. Please come to the venue after taking sufficient measures against COVID-19.
