1)Quasi-State of Emergency Issued

A Quasi-state of emergency has been issued in the Prefecture.
Please continue taking proper safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Duration: Jan. 21 - Feb. 13

<Request to the Residents of Chiba Prefecture>

1. Going out
  • Avoid going to crowded places, areas where there have been high numbers of infections, or places where people are prone to becoming infected(※1) as much as possible.(※2)
2. Meals
  • Only eat at restaurants taking proper countermeasures against infection.(※3)
  • No more than four people will be permitted to eat together (children 6 years old and under and those who are assisting with the meal may sit together).
  • If you are eating at a restaurant, wear a mask when having conversations. Keep your meals short. Refrain from drinking alcohol a lot and talking in a loud voice. Do not share cups and utensils with others.
  • Do not go out to eat after 9 p.m.
  • If you have a gathering at your home with people you do not live with, please be sure to follow the same infection countermeasures as you would at a restaurant.
3. Things to be careful of

Please continue to follow essential infection prevention countermeasures.
Continue to wear a mask, wash and sanitize your hands, keep a safe distance from others, and properly ventilate rooms. 

 

※1 Places where people are prone to becoming infected

  • Does not apply to going to the hospital, work, or school (including cram school and extracurricular lessons)
  • Does not apply to exercising in order to maintain your health. Please do not go out if you are feeling unwell.
  • Try to assess the necessity of pursuits such as sightseeing/travelling, and attending events. Moreover, please consider postponing such activities. If it is difficult to do so, implement infection prevention countermeasures when going out.

※3 Restaurants taking proper countermeasures against infection

  • Restaurants are properly ventilated by keeping windows and doors open.
  • Tables are spaced out.
  • There are acrylic dividers in-between tables.

2) Take Thorough Measures Against Infection / Free PCR Testing Available

The Number of People Infected with COVID-19 is Increasing Rapidly. Please continue to take thorough measures against infection.

Please consult with this hotline if you think you’ve been infected with COVID-19. Consultations are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Multilingual interpretation is available.

Languages available: English, Chinese, Cantonese, Korean, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Thai, Hindi, French, Mongolian, Tagalog, Nepali, Indonesian, Farsi, Burmese

Free PCR Testing

Free PCR testing is available at some of the pharmacies throughout Chiba Prefecture until January 31.

Who can get tested

Residents of Chiba Prefecture who are not experiencing Covid-19-like symptoms (fever, cough, etc.) can get tested.

  • Testing is available until March 31 to people who are unable to get vaccinated due to the health condition, and children eleven years old and under.
  • If you feel unwell or are experiencing Covid-19-like symptoms, do not get tested through this service. Please consult the Chiba Coronavirus Hotline for Foreign Residents.

Testing is available at 236 pharmacies located throughout Chiba Prefecture (as of Jan. 17).

What to bring

1. Please bring some form of ID
    Ex. Driver’s license, residence card, or passport

    ※Please bring a document which proves you live in Chiba Prefecture if it is not written on your ID
    Ex. Electricity bill, water bill, gas bill, etc.

2. Application
    Applications are available at the test site.

How long is the PCR test result valid for?

Results are valid for up to three days after getting tested.
For example, if you got tested on January 1, the result is valid until January 4.
