There are two main types of official volunteers at the Tokyo 2020 Games: volunteers for venues (“games-volunteers”)called “Field Cast” who support the operations of various game events at the venues, and volunteers in towns (“city-volunteers”) called “City Cast” who serve visitors by providing information on tourism, transportation and Games-related guidance throughout the duration of the 2020 games.
In 2018, the Chiba Prefectural Government recruited 3,000 “City Cast” volunteers among 6500 applicants, who will support visitors in the host cities and towns of 8 Olympic and Paralympic events held in Chiba Prefecture. Now, in 2021, the number of registered volunteers is about 1400. These volunteers are looking forward to executing their roles in the Paralympic Games. Some of the members are now challenging remote volunteering opportunities such as preparing for these virtual tours, translation, robot operating training, SNS, writing newsletters, and so on.
Volunteers are expected to work for 5 areas in Chiba prefecture; Chiba City Venue Area, Ichinomiya Town, Narita International Airport, Narita City Area, Urayasu City Area.
During the Olympic Games, the volunteer services at each area will not be implemented because the games are held without audience.
