Traditional Japanese inns had already mastered the concept of "slow life," long before the phrase was invented. Their washitsu rooms inspire serenity. An attendant, known as a nakai, provides hospitality, anticipating whatever visitors might need. Soaking in a hot spring, relaxing in a tatami room, dining on Japanese cuisine, and sleeping on a futon: the experience includes something to please all of the senses.
